Between Your Position And Your Purpose

Mordecai sent this reply to Esther : “Don’t think for a moment that because you’re in the palace, you will escape when all other Jews are killed. If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” Esther 4 : 13 – 14

If Mordecai’s words to Esther seemed harsh, it was probably because of the urgency of the situation.

The entire Jewish race was about to be wiped out as a result of the evil manipulations of certain people who hated them and everything they stood for. Something had to be done to prevent the impending destruction and Mordecai knew that Esther as queen, would play a big role in saving her people.

What happens when a young, orphaned Jewish girl unexpectedly becomes first lady in the land of captivity? The perfect fairy tale, wouldn’t you say ? Among so many other young ladies, and after a rather tasking and demanding process, the king of Persia chose her to be his bride – That’s the story of Esther and how she became queen.

Unlike most fairy tales though, the story did not end there – It was in fact the beginning. Before she could get comfortable sitting on her throne, God called her to arise and fulfil destiny.

This explains what Mordecai was trying to make Esther see because it seemed she was hesitant to make any move. She had come into Persia as a Jewish exile but had risen to the highest position as the king’s wife. This wasn’t just a stroke of luck, now wasn’t the time to revel in her new status with all it’s trappings and benefits. God had set this whole thing up because a divine assignment lay before her. There was a divine purpose connected to her position as queen. Mordecai was basically saying; “No Esther, don’t just sit back, relax and celebrate, so many lives depend on your swiftness in answering God’s call to act.”

Your calling, that position you occupy is not the end, it’s a means to an end. It’s not all about you, you were called to be blessed and to be a blessing to others. You came to this world loaded with talents and gifts but God didn’t fill you with all these treasures just to make you feel good about yourself. Even the time you’ve been given to live on earth will be accounted for. Remember that you are a steward. Let your light shine, pour out and be a blessing to those around you.

The world awaits your impact, don’t waste another day thinking only about yourself and how to get your needs met. When Esther caught the vision, she ran with it, never once looking back. She risked her life in the process because she caught the essence of seizing the moment in order to fulfil one’s calling. Oh my! What would have happened if she hadn’t listened to her uncle, Mordecai’s rebuke? She would have lost her life because she was also a Jew. Even if her own life had been spared, she would have lived a life filled with guilt and regrets. Through her, the entire nation of Israel was preserved as she stood in defense of her people.

Show up, Speak up and Deliver. The world awaits your voice. Please don’t bury your talents. Use them, maximise your potential. You may look at your current situation and feel like where you are now is nothing compared to being in a palace but you don’t have to be in a palace before you can make a difference. Be willing to start small. When you’re faithful with little, God will enlarge your coast. Start from where you are and God will take you to where you need to be.

Don’t Stop Because You Stumbled

It’s 6 months into 2019 and I’ve been taking stock. One of my goals this year was to do away with abandoned projects. I’ve had my share of them and I wanted to do something about it.

It was a cycle of having a fantastic idea, starting out and dropping it just as quickly and the major reason was that I didn’t like it when things didn’t fall into place as nicely as I imagined they would. It makes me smile as I realize the error in thinking that these unexpected detours were indications that I shouldn’t proceed with these projects. That is just not how it works.

Limitations, resistance, hindrances, mountains, oppositions, they all point to one fact of life which is that there are no platters waiting to serve you what you think or feel you deserve. If you want to achieve anything, you’ve got to get up and go after it with rescilience.

It doesn’t matter how small or big the project may be, get ready to face some level of opposition. It won’t be everyday that things will go as planned but they are all just temporary tests to see how prepared you are.

One fine morning, ( Luke 8 22 – 25) Jesus told his disciples that they were going to the other side. His ministry was thriving as people were being touched and transformed through his teaching and workings of miracles. It was time though to expand his reach, more people awaited him on the other side of the sea and he was also willing to minister to them. So this fine day, Jesus and his disciples got into a boat and headed out but the waves and the wind decided on this same day to dance wildly and display fierce acrobatics which automatically meant that their mission to minister was being threatened.

It’s not difficult to imagine what would have happened if they had all given in to the fear and helplessness that was about to swallow them up as a result of the storm. Everything did go well though, because Jesus, informed by his disciples of impending disaster, got up and rebuked the wind and calm returned.

There’s glory on the other side, achievements waiting to be attained but a lot depends on your attitude towards challenges. Sometimes, it’s not a question of the fierceness of the storm but your determination to keep going.

Personally, what was holding me back was how I interpreted challenges. This year, instead of complaining and feeling sorry for myself, I choose to use these stumbling blocks as steadying rocks to hold as I work my way to the top. Here are somethings I’ve been doing to stay on track and keep going;

  1. The Bible says ‘ If you fail under pressure, your strenght is too small.’ ( Proverbs 24 : 10) so I pray for God to increase my strength and help me to keep going.
  2. I read inspirational books, devotionals and articles. I also reflect on success stories of people who inspire me. Stories of people like Barack Obama and Joyce Meyer remind me that success is a melting pot of trials and triumphs.
  3. I take a break from it all so I can clear my head and get a fresh perspective.

4 Tips To Push Through Self Doubt

How to rise above self doubt so you can fulfil your calling.

Can I make it work ?

Do I have what it takes ?

Will my voice be heard?

YES YOU CAN TO ALL OF THE ABOVE !

If you’re passionate about fulfilling your calling, then always be ready to be your number one cheerleader. I want to share four tips I know will help anytime discouragement sets in and you begin to doubt your ability to push through and make success happen.

YOU ARE LOADED

I’m talking about the deposits of Promise and Potential ; Treasure and Talents you were born with. God did not make a mistake when He put them in you and it’s time to use them for the benefit of mankind. It also simply means that you have what it takes, in fact, all it takes to do what He’s called you to do. This silences all doubts about your ability to perform. What do you have? What can you do today with what you have? If you keep thinking about what you don’t have, you won’t be able to get much done. Appreciate what you have, get to work and watch it multiply.

DON’T LOOK BACK

God’s call is about your future not your past, so don’t allow anything or anyone pull you back from behind. If your past was an issue, God wouldn’t have called you. It’s not about your past but your potential. Looking back on your mistakes and regrets is very draining so please shake it off. Keep your focus on the wonderful future that is yours through faith in Christ. Any woman who has fulfilled her calling will tell you that questions about your ability to deliver will arise. What’s most important is that you have your answers ready – Faith filled answers. Approach your calling always from the perspective of faith, let the past go and never give up.

NEVER BE INTIMIDATED

When you come across a stunning website, or read about someone achieving fantastic feats, choose to be inspired rather than intimidated by their success stories. Remember that it’s not about what you can do but what God can do through you. In fact be secure enough to celebrate them and wish them well. As you do that, you are watering the ground for your own increase and success. There’s something about offense and envy that stifles creativity or productivity. It’s their time to shine and so will you.

DON’T DELAY, DECIDE !

I encourage you to press through the barriers of self doubt. Take steps everyday and watch how you will make giant strides because truly, all giant strides begin with a step. Decide today that you’re going to do something everyday to push and birth greatness. Continuous delay will build a wall of resistance in your heart and it can even make you turn away from your calling totally, leaving you unfulfilled. Decide that you’re going to do something everyday to push and birth greatness. The steps you start with may seem little but as you take it, your confidence will build up, and you’ll be to accomplish more and more.

Choose faith over fear

How To Choose Faith Over Fear

Quit letting fear get in the way of living a more joyful and purposeful life.

Truth be told, this topic isn’t new but it’s still a much needed lesson because even though most of us know not to give in to fear, it still manages to creep up on us and have it’s way in the most devastating of ways.

Fear is an emotion we all feel and that’s okay because it can act as a signal to back off from certain people or situations that are dangerous but what is not okay is when we LIVE in fear, as in set up shop there.

It stops us when we should be moving forward.

It’s the reason we procrastinate or hide.

What could be more paralyzing?

Don’t get me wrong, facing our fears can be pretty difficult but if were going g to be honest here, the reason why we refuse to take the bull by the horns is not always because it’s difficult but because it’s uncomfortable. There’s just something comforting about not confronting, but the down side is that it’s so self limiting.

Looking Unto Jesus The Author And Finisher Of Our Faith…..Hebrews 12 : 2

Peter achieved an amazing feat when he actually walked on water, but that was only because he fixed his gaze on Jesus. As soon as Peter shifted his focus to the billowing wind and stormy sea, he started to drown but thank God he didn’t because Jesus quickly reached out and saved him. We are bombarded daily with news or situations that attempt to shift our focus here and there but the question is, Are you going to hold on to faith and stay afloat or sink with fear?

When I Am Afraid, I Will Put My Trust In You. Psalm 56 : 3

If you don’t want to go through life running and hiding and then regretting that you hid and ran, then you will need to be courageous. Sometimes you will never know what’s around the corner until you make that turn. Courage is going ahead to get the job done even when you feel scared or uncertain. As you take steps of faith, fear retreats.

The LORD Himself Goes Before You And Will Be With You; He Will Never Leave You Nor Forsake You. Do Not Be Afraid; Do Not Be Discouraged. Deuteronomy 31 : 8

Here lies the key to victory over fear – The consciousness that God is with you always. There’s something so reassuring about the abiding presence of God. David put it this way; ” Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me “. He courageously confronted and defeated Goliath because he knew who he was and whose he was. I’m yet to find anyone who adopted David’s formula and failed. Put your confidence in God because He’s with you every step of the way. Everyone and everything may fail but His saving grace is unfailing.

One Simple Lesson About Christmas

 Christmas Devotions

Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Luke 2: 10

Christmas is good news! That’s the true message of the season and it’s something to cheer about but somewhere along the line, things have gotten complicated. We shouldn’t be carried away with how Christmas has been commercialized that we forget about how really simple it should be. The world shouldn’t tell us how to celebrate Christmas because it’s not about how much we have but how much we can give. It’s about sharing the good news and spreading joy. It’s not a time to be afraid or worry and fret about the things we don’t have or can’t afford. Hey, we’re not counting losses, we are celebrating the events surrounding the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, someone wonderful who was given to us as saviour, counselor and friend. That’s a plus and that’s why it’s good news!

REFLECT:  In what ways can you let go of the rush rush and keep things simple this season?

If You Are Staring At A Wilderness Where A Garden Once Was……

God’s Promise: For the Lord shall comfort Zion: He will comfort all her waste places; and He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the lord. Joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving and the voice of melody. Isaiah 51:3 KJV

During Sunday service yesterday, the pastor mentioned repeatedly that ‘God is too faithful to fail’ and I was particularly blessed. Don’t we all need this reminder from time to time? It made me remember Eve’s journey through motherhood:

Eve must have felt all hope dashed when she lost her sons – She had two sons, Cain and Abel. Cain, driven by jealousy because God had accepted Abel’s offering, killed Abel his brother, and was himself banished forever. How deep her sense of loss must have been. One minute, she was the proud mother of two lovely boys; the next minute, she was mourning their loss. The circumstances surrounding the loss of her sons would definitely shatter the heart of any mother. God had blessed Eve to be fruitful and multiply but it seemed like the exact opposite was happening. Thank God the story doesn’t end there, God eventually blessed Adam and Eve with another child named Seth, and he was faithful in calling upon the Lord and serving him. Genesis 4:1 -25

Today’s promise offers hope that there’s going to be a comfort, turnaround and there’s going to be restoration. Things may look gray and bleak but I want you to trust in the faithfulness of God because you can have a new beginning. He is too faithful to abandon you or to forget His promise to you. It doesn’t matter who or what you’ve lost, or how bad your situation may seem, you may be staring at a wilderness where a garden once was but I want to encourage you to hold on because God has promised to step in and turn that situation around in your favour.
