I used to think a vision was something you wrote down, prayed over and kept safely like some very sentimental memento, now I know better. Having a personal vision may get you started, but going back to it as often as you can will keep you going – You’ve Got To Put It In Writing !
This is because the journey to the actualization of your dreams will not always be smooth. When you encounter bumps on the road, your vision will serve as a reminder of the need to keep going. Studies have shown that when you write things down, you’re more likely to remember and act on them. When everything seems hazy such that you don’t even know why you do what you do, going through your vision will also renew your clarity and keep you on track. Those words will scream at you ” Don’t Give Up !”
You’re also likely to be more disciplined and focused when you know what you want and where you are headed in life. You’ve got to be careful that your voice is not drowned out by the voices of others or you may find yourself dumping your own course and taking up the course of another person because theirs suddenly seems more attractive. The Bible puts it this way : Without prophetic vision people abandon restraint, but those who obey the law are happy. Proverbs 29 : 18.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie. Though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Habakkuk 2 : 3
Tweak or review your vision to reflect changes like growth, new experiences or even a new perspective and as days turn into years, never become impatient to the point of turning your back on your purpose.
I know of many who use vision boards, which is a combination of words, images and photos that describe very clearly the future you desire – which is what a personal vision simply is – A Picture Of Your Desired Future. Images are said to stir up emotions and resonate on a deeper level. Whichever you choose, the general rule is to keep it concise, simple but exciting. Look at it, read it everyday ! What better way to motivate yourself – Your vision is your divine energy booster, revitalizing you and spurring you to action.
